Thinking about Christmas already!!

I'm not sure what has got into me!!! I am usually so lazy in terms of Christmas organisation. For example, the year before last I was heavily pregnant and had decided that I wasn't going to bother at all and people would understand because of 'my condition'. Then, for no apparent reason, got up one morning at 38 weeks pregnant, took myself to the shops and brought everyones presents all at once! Then quickly regretted it as my hips were killing me and had to wrap them all. Even though last Christmas was only a few months ago, I can't even remember what I did... I think a lot of presents involved photographs of the baby on different forms of 'gift tat'... That made presents easier for family at least! We made lots of effort for Pippa though of course and she was very spoilt.

So a massive break from tradition... I have a Christmas present plan already!!! When I say I don't know whats got into me, I do know really. It's called a knitting obsession and and excuse to buy more wool! SSSHHHH don't tell the husband!!! Like he hasn't already noticed.... My particular obsession at the moment is sock knitting. So there you go, I intend on knitting everyone sock for Christmas.

I already had a few balls/skeins of wool in my stash waiting to become socks but naturally I had to stock up on yarny  supplies..

I'm very proud of my sock wool pyramid!! This isn't all of it though, I have some more hidden away upstairs and some I have already used. I guess my obsession for sock knitting has manifested because I have found them easier to knit whilst chasing Pippa around the house. I use a 9" sock circular needle and put the ball of wool in my pocket so it's nice and easy to pick up/put down. They knit relatively quickly so I like the instant gratification of that too. I have many pretty sock patterns waiting in my Ravelry queue!

The sock currently on my needles is a test knit pattern by Liz Corke. It is a toe up sock which is a little out of my comfort zone, not because of the techniques, just because I prefer knitting socks cuff down!

I am trying not to get too distracted from the test knit sock as I have a deadline but I also want to knit lots of toddler socks for Pippa.

I dabbled with one over the weekend which, although it's looks fab (even if I do say so myself!!), it isn't the best fitting yet so it will need a bit of playing with to get right. This must wait though.

The other little plan running around in my head is my own sock design. In my last post, I spoke about playing around with my own jumper pattern using slip stitches. Well I haven't looked any further into this but have got a vision of a slip stitch sock pattern; maybe my debut into designing??! HA! Whatever happens, this is quite high up on my list to do so watch this space!
