Stash Dash 2019

I spend far too much time on instagram looking at all things knitting. It's a bit of an obsession! Recently there has been an increasing amount of #stashdash hashtags appearing with no real explanation but it looks like a fun game! After plenty of digging and some helpful information from Truly Hooked, I finally got to the bottom of it...

Stash Dash is a competition (with yourself no prizes or anything) hosted by The Knit Girllls on their Ravelry Group. I quickly knew it was hosted by them but for the life of me could I find them... because of that spelling... 3 'L's!!! It explains it all on the thread but basically it's a 'dash' to use up your stashed yarn and finish some WIP's (work in progress projects). The dash runs (haha) from the 24th May until the 24th August and the aim is to track all the yarn meterage you use in that time. You have to complete the project, it doesn't count if you don't cast off! I like this idea as I have a few things that I keep putting off finishing; one being my Whiteout lace shawl, which will give me a good quantitiy to count! You can also count spinning projects so if you area spinner, the meterage is counted as you spin, and if its several ply you can times the amount by the ply, and then if you knit it too the meterage counts again!! I'm not a spinner... but those people will by far get the furthest in the dash! You can also count extra meterage twice if you have to rip back a project and re-knit, as long as it's finished by the deadline. Ill use ravelry to count myt meterage as it tells you anyway but I'm not  sure I'll count the ripping back meterage as that sounds difficult/annoying to keep track of!

Hopefully I wont have any ripping back  meterage to count anyways!

I'll post my projects on Ravely as I already do but I think I'll also update this post every time I finish a project. I'm interested in how much yarn I can go through in a 3 month period... Unfortunatly I know it is A LOT less than I buy but it will still be intereting! Also, documenting it onm this thread lets me show off my projects without having to write a whole post every time, that's far too much effort (and waffle)!

As the dash progresses, you are meant to set a goals of how many metres you think you might use.. I would  like to think I could get to 5k... I could go slightly higher but it's so dependand on Pippa going to sleep... based on her current bedtime refusal, I wouldn't get close... If she goes to bed before 8 every night like a few weeks ago, then I have better chance!

Wish me luck (for the toddler sleeping more than the stash dash!!)
